Terms of Sevice

Last updated: March 4th, 2019

The Terms of Service and commission prices are subject to change.
Before contacting me to request a commission please read the following paragraphs thoroughly.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you feel that anything in here is unclear or missing.

I General

  1. I have the right to decline a commission request.
  2. I will decline commissions featuring offensive, explicit, other sexually related content or content that I am personally not feeling comfortable with.
  3. When working on art in general, I like posting work-in-progress images on my social media profiles to let people get a sneak peak on what I am working on at the moment. Please let me know if you feel comfortable about having me post work-in-progress images of your commission to my social media profiles (given that you approve of the current state of your commission beforehand, see V Process).
  4. When working on digital art, I am occassionally doing art streams. Please let me know if you allow me to stream the process of your commission and if you would like to be notified upfront about the art stream featuring your commission going live.
  5. The charms offered as custom charms will be ordered from ZapCreatives! and will be assembled by myself. The accessories and clasps I can offer might vary depending on what I currently have at hand (in general I do have the usual stuff though: lobster clasps, varied star shaped acrylic beads, small golden bells), but I will order specific accessories if you have something special in mind (just let me know early on, because getting the items might take some time on its own).

    3. For digital art commissions only:

      • If yes, would you like to me notified ahead of time if I start working on your commission on-stream?
    4. For traditional art only:
      • Would you like me to send you the original of your commission via mail (hard board backed envelop, tracking number)?
If yes, I will require your mailing adress for shipping.

III Prices, Payment and Refunds

  1. The prices listed above are for reference for personal use commissions and might differ depending on the amount of details of your commission.
  2. The price of commissions aimed for the client's commercial use varies depending on the scale of the project the client wants to use the artwork for.
  3. Currently, I am only accepting payment via PayPal for commissions. I will send you an invoice via PayPal once we have discussed your commission in detail and I accepted your commission.
  4. Payment is made upfront. I will start working on your commission once I have sucessfully received the full payment.
  5. If major work-overs are required to complete the commission due to lack of information, I may charge an extra-fee upon completion depending on the time needed to edit your commission to your liking (for further information see VI Work-overs).
  6. Refunds from my end will be offered if I am unable to complete your commission due to technical or health-related difficulties. If any progress has already been done on your commission that I can provide to you (e.g. Sketch and Lineart are done), I will provide those and refund the difference between full price and the stages that have been successfully completed.
  7. If you are in urgent need of cancelling your commission, I will offer a refund of the difference between full price and the stages that have been successfully completed minus 20% of the full price.
  8. All items that will be shipped to you physically will be shipped using hard board backed envelopes (traditional artworks) or air cushion envelopes (custom charms) using a service that provides a tracking number. If the item is damaged or lost during transit, please contact me so I can check whether I will be able to provide a refund (or replacement in case of custom charms).

IV Commission Contents

When commissioning a digital piece, you will receive the following files via email or note:

  • The full-sized PSD-file of your commission, including all layers
  • Two high resolution PNG-file of the finished piece (one with a small watermark, one without watermark)
  • High quality animated GIF-Files (animated Pixel Art Commissions only!)

When commissioning a traditional piece, you will receive the following files via email or note:

  • Two high resolution PNG-file of the finished piece (one with a small watermark, one without watermark) of both the raw scanned image and the digitally corrected artwork
  • The full-sized PSD-file including all digital corrections made after scanning (e.g. color adjustments, minor adjustments like removing dust)

If you would like me to send you the original of your traditional art commission via mail, please let me know. Traditional art pieces will be send out in hard board backed envelopes using a service that provides a tracking number. For doing so, I will need to charge an extra fee to cover the shipping costs.

When commissioning a custom charm, you will receive the following files via email or note:

  • High quality PNG-file(s) of the artwork(s) used for the charm
  • The full-sized PSD-file of your artworks, including all layers

Once I received your charms and assembled them, they will be shipped out in an air cushion envelop using a service that provides a tracking number.

V Process

  1. I will report back to you after completing each of the following steps: Sketch, lineart, coloring, (background). The work-in-progress images will be watermarked and have a low resolution, but they are meant to give you the opportunity to tell me whether you would like me to revise anything. At all times I encourage you to be honest with me regarding your commission, as I want you to receive an artwork you are fully satisfied with in the end.
  2. I will continue working on your commission once you approved the work-in-progress image or told me what you would like to have revised in specific. Furthermore, I will get back to you after each revision for approval.
  3. Of course, you can ask me for work-in-progress images in between as well.
  4. In general, it is hard for me to pinpoint how long it will take me to complete a commission. However, smaller projects - like small pixel animations or chibi-styled artworks - should not take me longer than a week or two to complete when my free time schedule allows it. For illustrations with detailled characters and background however, I might be busy for several weeks or even more than a month. As a rule of thumb, the price of a commission will reflect the relative amount of time I will need to complete your commission.
  5. Regarding custom charm commissions: Once I have completed the artwork of your charms (and had them being approved by you), I will place an order at ZapCreatives! to get your charms printed. The production time at ZapCreatives! varies, depending on how many jobs they currently have to complete. I will let you know once the charms arrived at my place. Afterwards it will take up to a week for me to assemble the charms and have them being sent out to you.

VI Work-overs

  1. As stated above, I encourage you to tell me about anything you would like me to revise about your commission throughout the process of working on your commission.
  2. Small revisions, such as color-corrections or reworking a smaller part of the full illustration, will be free of charge.
  3. Larger revisions, such as reworking major parts of the character - especially after completing the lineart and having started on coloring, will eventually be charged extra. The revision fee will depend on the time it will take me to adjust the commission to your liking.

VII Usage

  1. Upon completion, only the client and I are allowed to use the image online with credit to one another (unless stated otherwise).
  2. The rights of the finished artwork itself will remain with me (unless stated otherwise).
  3. The client agrees to only use the artwork in the way that has been discussed and agreed on at the time both the client and I have accepted the terms of this specific commission request.
    • Personal use: posting online (with credit to the artist), making prints and merchandise for personal use only
    • Commercial use: posting online (with credit to the artist), using the artwork for any sort of commercial use in the manner that has been discussed beforehand (e.g. selling prints and merchandise, inclusion as part of a larger project like a video game or a board game)
